Aldergrove Community Secondary School’s English Department offers courses for students in grades 9-12. Courses that we currently offer include English, English Language Development, Writing, and Communications.
Staff of the English Department are as follows:
- Vera Sutton (Department Head)
- Vera Sutton began teaching at ACSS in 1990 and still loves it. Most of those years have been teaching English in Room 105. Journals are a big part of her work, using them to help students engage with literature and connect to life. She enjoys writing, reading, and walking the dogs, Maeve, Dieter, and Jango. Maeve is an integral part of her classroom and the school as a whole, providing comfort and stress relief for students and staff alike.
- Laurie Penner
- Ms. Penner has taught at ACSS since 1993. Originally she was hired in the Music Department, teaching concert choir and jazz choir, but for the last 15 years she’s been a part of the English Department. Basically she loves stories and melodies! These days, she’s a big fan of Richard Wagamese.
- Ron Mathai
- Andra Lincke
- Weston Wedan
- Art Glauser
