The foyer Totem Pole depicts three images: children as the foundation, the bear holding the salmon as depicted on our original Totem Pole, and the Thunderbird with wings folded at the top. The history & process of Drew’s carving is detailed in the wall showcase. 2/2 #acsstotems #wearetotems
It’s Thursday & we’re committed to posting something about our history every week. In our front foyer you’ll find a Totem Pole carved by Drew Atkins, Kwantlen First Nation. Drew learned his craft under the guidance of Squamish Nation carver Rick Harry (Xwalacktun) /1

We're committed to sharing our history with future generations of students so the connection to our past is not lost. Watch for future #throwbackthursday & #fallbackfriday posts as we celebrate what it means to be #acsstotems. Our new murals will be posted in the coming months!
We are honoured to be permitted to use the name The Totems and recognize this gift that was bestowed upon our school by the Matsqui, Kwantlen, Katzie, and Semiahmoo First Nations. These photos were from our 2018 Recommitment and Rededication ceremony.
